Cop who killed himself in front of Brooklyn station had been a rising star in NYPD

Robert Cedeno had recently been assigned to the 66th Precinct 16th Ave. near 59th St.in Brooklyn. It was his fourth tour, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

Robert Cedeno, 41, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head just outside of his new post at the 66th Precinct stationhouse in Borough Park. He was training to be a detective, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
The cop who took his own life outside a Brooklyn police station was a rising star who was working toward his detective shield, officials said Friday.
The officer, identified by police sources as Robert Cedeno, 41, shot himself in the head with his service weapon Thursday night just steps away from his new post at the 66th Precinct stationhouse in Borough Park. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the married father of a 13-year-old girl had just been assigned to the stationhouse on 16th Ave. near 59th St. The 13-year veteran was going to receive on-the-job training to become a detective, police sources said.
