Mexico and Kenya at War Over Oscar Winning Actress Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o, who was born in Mexico to Kenyan parents, has come out to settle the tussle between the countries. After her Oscar win, the entertainment pages of both countries exploded and the competition over her nationalityflared.
The ‘12 Years a Slave’ actress was born in Mexico but lived in Kenya, and was later sent back to Mexico when she 16 years so as to learn Spanish.
With her quick rise to stardom, now including a prestigious Oscar win, Lupitahas been the centre of attraction with Mexico and Kenya claiming the star as their own.
Speaking to El Manana, the actress said: I’m Mexican and Kenyan at the same time, ‘I have seen the quarrels over my nationality, but I am Kenyan and Mexican at the same time. So again, I am Mexican-Kenyan and I am fascinated by carne asada tacos.’
