Jonathan Holds Secret Talks With Governor Amaechi?

Unknown to many political observers, President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday night met behind closed door with Rotimi Amaechi, the man who is giving him serious headache due to his closeness with some Northern governors that are openly against his re-election moves.
An insider in Aso Rock said: “I think there is peace in sight because the President hosted Amaechi on Friday night in an atmosphere devoid of [the usual] security intimidation."

The venue of the meeting, was the same place where Amaechi was blocked from greeting the President few weeks ago, the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Friday night’s meeting between Jonathan and Amaechi was brief because the Rivers Governor said he would prefer a lengthy discussion only if his colleagues from the North, who were stoned in Port Harcourt by agents of the PDP, were also called for a peace meeting.

Brimtime.com gathered that, it was due to Amaechi's request that President Jonathan invited the five Northern Governors who met with him on Saturday in Aso Rock.

The brief meeting between Jonathan and Amaechi reviewed the crisis in Rivers State House of Assembly and explored ways to resolve it. A source said "Mr President is ready for peace."

“The mood between the President and Amaechi was reconciliatory. Amaechi asked the President to allow the five Northern governors, who are brokering the peace talks, to be part of a discussion or reconciliation plan to resolve the crisis," the source added.

A source in Abuja told said that Jonathan has now agreed to intervene in Rivers crisis and put an end to the rift, in the interest of peace.
