A Woman Pregnant For 46 Years Gave Birth To A Mummy

In 1955 Zahra Aboutalib, aged 26 at the time, was taken to hospital after having been into labour for more than 48 hours without any sign of the baby. She needed to have a C-section but being extremely scared of the operation she left the hospital in panic.

Days after she fled the hospital, the pain was still excruciating. Suddenly, the pain stopped. Zahra assumed that it’s all fine and the baby would soon be born which actually never took place. Zahra adopted three children and later became a grandmother. When she was 75, the horrible pains returned so she was sent for scans. The scan revealed the unbelievable :  inside Zahra’s stomach was a calcified baby.  The baby had developed outside the womb and, unable to be born, had died and fused with Zahra’s internal organs. Zahra’s body created a layer of hard calcified material around the dead baby as to protect itself from the ‘foreign body’ and this layer became thicker in time. Fortunately, the calcified foetus was removed successfully and Zahra lived.
