Magistrate Kehinde Omotosho convicted Ekeh of three charges including obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
Omotosho did not give the convict option of fine.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Sunday Ojeleye, said that the defendant was arraigned on a five-count charge which included obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
Ojeleye said that Ekeh specialises in stealing gas cylinders and defrauding people, adding that he was arrested on Nov. 11, 2011.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened sections 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Satisfied with the evidence before her, Omotoso sentenced Ekeh to five years imprisonment with hard labour for each of the three charges, adding that the sentence would run concurrently. (NAN) Source
