Well, OnoBello.com has gathered that the ‘12 Years A Slave’ Oscar nominee is confirmed to be at the film screening taking place today Friday, 11th April 2014 at the Silverbird Cinema in Victoria Island, Lagos at 11am. Chiwetel is also billed to be at the press conference also holding today at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi at 2:00pm.
Chiwetel Ejiofor will be joined by other leading cast members Anika Noni Rose, Joseph Mawle, Onyeka Onwenu, OC Ukeje, Genevieve Nnaji, Tina Mba, Gloria Young, Zack Orji and Wale Ojo. Director Biyi Bandele and producer Andrea Calderwood will also be at the events. However we did not get a confirmation on Thandie Newton’s attendance.
Tomorrow will see Saturday 12th of April 2014 will see the exclusive red carpet premiere in Lagos.
In Nigerian HOAYS will be in cinemas from Friday, 25th April 2014.
HOAYS is adapted from the book by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, set in Nigeria during the struggle to establish an independent republic.
In a recent interview with the London Evening Standard Ejiofor said the book and film held a personal significance.
He said: "It was incredible, I spoke to my grandfather a few years before he died. The conversation took a turn towards his experiences in the war and we ended up doing 10 hours of interviews about it.
"It very closely followed some of the events in this film so I was very moved and engaged to make this film.
"It was a very emotional and powerful journey for me."
