Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Reports reaching us indicate that the North-Eastern chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria have supported the former
Vice President Atiku Abubakar's decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress. "We in the Christian Association of Nigeria, North-East chapter, support the defection of the former Vice President from the PDP to the APC.
To us, it is a welcome development. Atiku Abubakar has the credentials and genuine commitment to foster the unity of Nigeria as a whole," a source within the CAN disclosed. Public Relations Officer of the North-east Chapter of CAN, Jonathan A. Sambo, also confirmed the development. According to him, Atiku actually consulted with them over whether or not to defect to the APC. Mr. Sambo said Atiku is not one of the political "jingoists" seeking power in Nigeria.
He said Nigerians needed "a liberal leader" to whom region, ethnicity or religion would not matter.
