Teen girl arrested after poisoning roommate's iced tea with bleach [PICTURED
A teen girl was arrested and charged after spiking her roommate’s iced tea with bleach, according to police reports.
The student from the University of Michigan is accused of spiking the iced tea of her roommate after a dispute over dirty dishes.
Kayla Ashlyn Bonkowski, 19, faces felony charges of poisoning for dumping the lethal chemicals in the drink of 20-year-old Emily Joseph in their Union Township apartment last month.
Bonkowski, who attends Central Michigan University, told police she did it because Joseph was mean, according to reports in the local newspapers.
The roommates were reportedly fighting over dirty dishes. Bonkowski admitted to trying to poison Joseph, police said. "I knew that spraying bleach was a serious matter," she told police, the newspaper said. Joseph was treated at a local hospital and released. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.
Central Michigan University issued a statement on the case of Bonkowski."CMU is aware of the situation and is awaiting a police report of the Michigan State Police, who heads the criminal investigation," the school said. "The university continues to collect information and will adjust the provisions of the student code of conduct to address this issue."
