ABAKALIKI- EBONYI state police command, Monday, confirmed the killing of Chukwudalu Omege, 15, by his cousin, Uchechukwu Nwankwo, 25, after he allegedly dreamed that the deceased was among those plotting to take his life
It was gathered that the suspect who immediately took a knife and stabbed his victim as he woke up from a horrible dream, resides at No. 7 Ibe Street, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital
Briefing journalists at the Police Headquarters Abakaliki, the Ebonyi Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo said the police got to know about the unfortunate incident when the murder case was reported at the Ekumenyi Police station by a member of the deceased family (name withheld).
According to him: “A report was made at the Ekumenyi Police Station that one Uchechukwu Nwankwo aged 25 years stabbed his cousin, one Chukwudalu Omege aged 15 and the victim was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki,(FETHA). Unfortunately, while the victim was receiving treatment at the FETHA, he died at the early hours of Saturday”.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. According to him, he was in a dream when he saw three men, and in that dream it was revealed to him that the three men were hatching plans to eliminate him. When he woke up, he prayed against it and went back to sleep.
Again, he had another dream where two other people were revealed to him that was planning to kill him also”.
“When he looked closely in a bid to identify the people planning to kill him, he identified his brother, (the deceased) and immediately he woke up, picked a machete and went after the cousin, while the cousin was trying to raise alarm and run for his dear life, he went after him and killed him with the machete”.
The Police Public Relations Officer explained that the Ekumenyi Division was still investigating the matter adding that at the end of the investigation, the command would charge those indicted for the murder to court.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi state Police command has also warned those still using tinted glasses and unregistered vehicles in the state to desist from doing so. He added that those who use improvised or artificially fit tinted glasses on their vehicle should dismantle them forthwith while owners of factory fitted tinted glass vehicle should write to
the command for permit.
Igbo noted that the Commissioner of Police Moses Ndagi had constituted a task force for the arrest of those contravening the law and warned that no payment was required for the issuance of tinted glass permit.
“Don’t be deceived and violators of this order will be prosecuted by
